Plate 12, the largest of the series, also marks a new chapter in the representations: all of the following engravings abandon the stark geometrical framework for a refined graphic treatment, with delicate half-tone stippling and cross-hatching by André Le Grand.
As a result, the rest of the suite is much more illustrative than
demonstrative...
